Elon Musk Responds to Controversy Over Grok's Inappropriate Hindi Replies in India

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet’s Appointments Committee has given the green light for the appointment of 35 officials from various all-India services. These individuals include members from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Railway Service of Signals (IRSS), Indian Telecommunications Service (ITS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Indian Economic Service (IES), and Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) to influential administrative positions.

Key Appointments

Deputy Election Commissioner

Madhup Vyas, an IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre, has been chosen for the position of Deputy Election Commissioner. He will serve a five-year term in this important role, taking over responsibilities that ensure the smooth functioning of elections across the nation.

Advisory and Administrative Roles

In addition to Vyas, Mukund Agarwal, an IAS officer from the 2008 batch in Rajasthan, has been selected as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. This role falls under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and is also a five-year appointment.

Joint Secretaries and Other Positions

  • Prasanna R. and Sushma Chauhan are appointed as joint secretaries in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • Kamala Kant Tripathy, a 1999-batch officer from the Indian Economic Service, is now a joint secretary at the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, NITI Aayog.
  • Prajakta L. Verma has been appointed as joint secretary in the Department of Atomic Energy.
  • Lakhpat Singh Choudhary will serve as a joint secretary in the Ministry of Coal.
  • Saket Kumar, an IAS officer from the 2009 batch in Bihar, is now appointed as joint secretary in the Department of Commerce.
  • Satinder Kumar Bhalla will take on the role of secretary of the North Eastern Council Secretariat.
  • Ajay Kumar is appointed as joint secretary in the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare.
  • Devesh Deval, an IAS officer from Maharashtra’s 2004 batch, will work as joint secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.

Health and Education Appointments

Raghav Langer has been named secretary of the National Medical Commission, while Jyoti Yadav has been appointed as joint secretary in the National Health Authority (NHA). Additionally, Prem Chandra Maurya will serve as joint secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries, and Armstrong Pame will have a role in the Department of Higher Education.

Human Rights and Housing

From the Indian Railway Traffic Service, Samir Kumar has been appointed as joint secretary at the National Human Rights Commission. Meanwhile, Pradeep Kumar Jha and Isha will serve as joint secretaries in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
