Introducing Your New Comadre | Microsoft Conexiones

In our rapidly evolving world, Latina mothers are discovering innovative methods to navigate the balance between cultural traditions and modern life. Think of having a reliable ally who comprehends your heritage and provides straightforward, nonjudgmental support. Introducing Microsoft Copilot, which serves as a contemporary “comadre” (a Spanish term commonly used to describe a close friend), merging the traditional wisdom of grandmothers with modern technology’s effectiveness.
Microsoft’s Abuela-Approved AI initiative aims to motivate Latina mothers to accept the advantages of AI in their parenting journey.
Merging Tradition with Modernity
Historically, Latina mothers have relied on the guidance and knowledge of their mothers and grandmothers. These strong women have formed the foundation of their families, providing counsel, emotional support, and unconditional love. Today, AI has taken on a role in this supportive community, uniting age-old wisdom with contemporary efficiency.
The Abuela-Approved AI campaign highlights this blend of technology and modern parenting. This initiative involves real Latina moms and grandmothers, demonstrating how Copilot can assist them in overcoming parenting challenges with assurance and enhancing family connections. Although not a substitute for traditional advice, Copilot acts as a modern-day “comadre,” offering practical, innovative, emotional, and cultural support that is even favored by grandmothers.
AI as Your Everyday Parenting Partner
At the heart of this campaign lies a recent Microsoft survey showcasing the increasing significance of AI in Latina mothers’ lives. According to the survey, 56% of Latina mothers who use AI believe it is “the newest member of their parenting village they never knew they needed.”
Latina mothers are increasingly recognizing AI as a valuable addition to their traditional support systems, focusing on four main areas:
- Practical Help: Approximately 60% of Latina moms utilize AI for daily tasks. This includes entertainment (57%), personal development (56%), work-related tasks (51%), and language translation (46%). With Copilot, moms can effectively manage shopping, school schedules, meal prep, and homework assistance.
- Creative Inspiration: As a “creative thought partner,” Copilot supports mothers in generating ideas for family gatherings, self-care routines, school projects, and even launching a side business. More than 30% of Latina moms use AI to alleviate stress and lighten their mental load.
- Emotional Support: About 38% of Latina mothers consult AI for parenting advice, appreciating its unbiased and objective viewpoint. Whether it’s navigating delicate parenting topics or needing a listening ear, Copilot is accessible around the clock. Two-thirds (67%) of Latina mothers value the convenience of 24/7 availability as the primary reason for choosing AI over traditional advice sources, and nearly half (48%) mention AI’s judgment-free aspect.
- Cultural Connection: Culturally relevant experiences hold significant importance for Latina moms. Over half of the surveyed individuals utilize AI for preserving family recipes (58%), recognizing cultural milestones (52%), and upholding their native language (43%). Copilot seamlessly integrates technology with tradition.

Collaborating with Moms and Abuelas
From now until May, Microsoft has partnered with Latina mom influencers across the United States to showcase the effectiveness of Copilot. This includes notable figures like Jeannette Reyes, a lifestyle creator and podcast host; Michelle Disla, a recipe creator; Jennifer Lee, a humor content creator; and Damaris de la Cruz, a lifestyle and shopping expert. Through various social media channels, these creators will demonstrate how AI can simplify daily routines and extend their support networks, all with the approval of previous generations. Follow their journey to discover how Copilot can serve as a contemporary parenting ally.
