Meta AI Launches in the MENA Region

Meta AI Launches in the MENA Region
Meta has officially rolled out its AI assistant, Meta AI, in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This initiative aims to empower users in various countries with tools that enhance learning, creativity, and connection. The AI assistant is now fully accessible in several key markets, including:
- United Arab Emirates
- Saudi Arabia
- Egypt
- Morocco
- Iraq
With plans to expand further into other MENA countries shortly, Meta AI offers a wide range of applications and functions.
Easy Accessibility Across Meta Apps
Meta AI is easily available across Meta’s suite of applications, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Users can find it by looking for a blue circle icon within these apps. Notably, there’s no need for prior registration to access this AI tool.
In group chats, users can utilize Meta AI by simply typing “@Meta AI.” This makes it a practical option for quick research and brainstorming sessions. For instance, if a group of friends is planning a trip and wants ideas for island destinations within a six-hour flight from the UAE, they can call upon the AI assistant for real-time suggestions.
Powerful Capabilities Built on Advanced Technology
Meta AI is powered by Llama 3.2, which is Meta’s largest and most advanced open-source language model. This technology allows the assistant to perform a variety of functions, such as generating text and creating images directly within the Meta apps.
One standout feature is the image generation tool, where users can type “Imagine” followed by a detailed description of what they want to create. For example, requesting an image like “Imagine a tiger wearing a vest drinking tea at a café” prompts Meta AI to create that image instantly and even animate it.
Arabic Language Support
The latest expansion also includes support for the Arabic language, broadening accessibility for more users in the region. This inclusion is likely to enhance engagement, making the tool even more relatable and user-friendly.
A Movement Towards Enhanced Digital Lives
Fares Akkad, Meta’s Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa, emphasizes the importance of Meta AI as a key player in the future of digital assistants. He notes that it combines advanced technology with user-friendly design, aiming to enrich daily life. Akkad is optimistic about Meta AI becoming one of the most utilized AI assistants globally by the end of this year.
To celebrate its launch in MENA, Meta is introducing a content series called “Elevating Every Moment.” This initiative aims to enlighten users on how to maximize their experience with Meta AI through practical tips and use cases. Collaborations with regional content creators on Instagram are also part of this series, showcasing what’s possible with this AI tool.
Practical Applications of Meta AI
Users are already exploring Meta AI for various tasks, from working on personal projects to getting assistance with practical tasks like home decor and outfit inspiration. The image generation feature has particularly gained popularity, encouraging users to think outside the box and innovate in their everyday lives.
As Meta AI continues its rollout, users can look forward to exciting new features. These include advanced multimodal capabilities, such as simultaneous dubbing for Reels content, real-time image editing, and the “Imagine Me” feature for generating and editing personalized portraits. Additionally, the upcoming tools will help users create captivating captions for their social media posts.
With nearly 700 million active monthly users globally and presence in 42 countries and 13 languages, Meta AI is on a promising trajectory to become one of the leading AI assistants worldwide.
