Recently, a user known as Jonah Manzano discovered a prompt labeled “Write with Meta AI” during his exploration of Instagram’s new features. This functionality allows users to receive AI-generated comment suggestions for posts. When enabled, users will notice a pencil icon next to the text entry bar beneath posts. By tapping this icon, the AI analyzes the accompanying photo and presents three comment suggestions.
Examples of AI-Generated Comments
For instance, if a user posts a picture showing someone smiling with a thumbs-up in their cozy living room, the AI might suggest comments like:
- "Cute living room setup."
- "Love the cozy atmosphere."
- "Great photo shoot location."
Users have the option to refresh the suggestions to receive new comments if they don’t feel satisfied with the initial three.

In a statement to TechCrunch, a Meta spokesperson confirmed, “We regularly test more features for you to use Meta AI across our apps.” This indicates that Meta is not only focusing on comment suggestions in Instagram but is also looking to integrate AI across other areas like comments, feeds, groups, and search functionalities.
