New Features from Windows Updates

Windows has announced exciting upgrades to its offerings, particularly with the introduction of Copilot+ PC experiences and enhanced Voice Access capabilities. Powers from both AMD and Intel processors will soon support these advancements, expanding the potential for AI-driven functionalities.

AI-Enriched Functionality

With the forthcoming launch of Microsoft’s Copilot + PC in 2024, users will start to see AI capabilities rolling out across various devices. Initially, these features were exclusive to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X platform, but now they will reach PCs powered by AMD Ryzen AI 300 series and Intel Core Ultra 200 series processors.

Throughout the next month, Windows plans to implement these enhancements using its Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR) approach. Already, some features can be accessed via the March 2025 non-security preview update. It is worth noting that the availability and timing of features may differ based on the device and region.

Users with AMD Ryzen AI 300 and Intel Core Ultra 200V processors can look forward to new AI-powered experiences. Key features will include:

  • Cocreator
  • Image Creator
  • Restyle Image
  • Live Captions

Furthermore, enhanced Voice Access capabilities are set to be rolled out to additional devices later this year.

Accessibility Enhancements

Windows is also prioritizing accessibility with its Copilot+ PCs. New features will include live captioning and translation services, which allow for real-time translations of audio and video content. Currently supporting English, these live captions will soon expand to include simplified Chinese, thus broadening accessibility for a wider audience.

The Voice Access feature is currently active on Snapdragon X Series Copilot+ PCs, but an update will make interactions more natural and flexible, improving usability for all users, especially those with disabilities.

Tools for Creativity

Windows is enhancing its creative tools with AI capabilities, initially available for Snapdragon X Series Copilot+ PCs, which will soon be extended to Intel and AMD devices. Notable upgrades include updated versions of Microsoft Paint and Photos. These applications will now incorporate features such as Cocreator in Paint, and Image Creator and Restyle Image tools in Photos.

The Cocreator in Paint enriches the user experience by providing advanced drawing and editing options, helping users express their creativity more vividly. By allowing users to combine freehand art with text prompts, this feature encourages personalized artistic designs.

In the Photos application, users will gain access to two new tools: Restyle Image and Image Creator. The Restyle Image feature enables users to reimagine their photos, transforming them into various artistic styles and mediums. Meanwhile, the Image Creator generates images based on detailed user prompts, offering endless possibilities for artistic expression.
