New Microsoft Copilot+ Features Now Available for AMD and Intel PCs

Microsoft Enhances Copilot+ Features for AMD and Intel PCs

Microsoft recently announced an exciting update regarding its Copilot+ PCs. Initially, these advanced devices were developed in collaboration with Qualcomm, leading to the release of the first generation of Copilot+ PCs. Following this, both Intel and AMD launched their own AI chipsets, expanding the Copilot+ lineup. Notably, however, the features available on AMD and Intel PCs did not quite match those of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon-equipped models. This limitation is now resolved as Microsoft has declared that it will be rolling out exclusive Copilot+ features to AMD and Intel users.

Expanded Features for a Broader Audience

In a blog post issued by Microsoft, the tech giant unveiled that advanced functionalities are now being introduced for the AMD Ryzen AI 300 and Intel Core Ultra 200V processors. These capabilities were previously limited to Snapdragon X Elite Copilot+ PCs. Navjot Virk, the Vice President of Windows Experiences, stated:

“Today marks another milestone as we roll out exclusive Copilot+ PC experiences like Live Captions, Cocreator, Restyle Image, and Image Creator across all Copilot+ PCs powered by AMD Ryzen AI 300 series, Intel Core Ultra 200V, and Snapdragon X Series processors.”

A list of rolling out Copilot+ features includes:

  • Live Captions: Provides real-time captions for audio content.
  • Cocreator: An AI-assisted tool that aids content creation.
  • Restyle Image: Enables users to modify and enhance images.
  • Image Creator: Generates custom images based on user prompts.

Additionally, enhancements related to new Voice Access capabilities for Snapdragon X-powered laptops will also be introduced later in the year.

Future Updates and Semantic Search

While the recent updates are promising, Microsoft has yet to provide a timeline for when or if the latest Insider feature called Semantic Search will be available on AMD and Intel Copilot+ PCs. However, the company is steadily expanding the capabilities of these systems, suggesting that new features may be introduced in the near future.

Voice Access is designed to revolutionize user interaction by allowing them to communicate with their devices using more descriptive language. This is expected to leverage the capabilities of the Neural Processing Units (NPUs) present in Copilot+ PCs.

Understanding Copilot+

The Copilot+ series represents a significant step toward integrating AI capabilities into personal computing. These features are aimed at enhancing productivity and creativity, facilitating tasks that range from simple audio transcription to advanced image generation, all powered by AI technology.

For users considering upgrading or purchasing a Copilot+ PC, the newly introduced features may serve as an enticing reason to explore these machines.
